Project 52 - week 8

Week 8 - the color Blue

This week was a bit of a rush to get the theme done.  One of my favorite colors is blue so I though it would be great.  I only looked around my house for inspiration.  It's amazing what you can find in your home when you really look!

The first image is of my daughter after a volleyball scrimmage day.  School starts in one week and the official volleyball season starts.  Yay!  Can't wait to see what these girls will do.

The next couple images are of my lab, Abby or of her toys.  She can be so funny when I bring the camera around.  I was taking a picture of her basket of toys and she jumped up and had to see what I was doing.  Was I going to get a toy out?  Was I going to play?

The rest of the images are just things around the house.  Different shades of blue.  Especially the Ball jars.  I love them!  LOL

Enjoy!

Week 7 - Summer Slam Tournament

This week's theme is the Summer Slam Volleyball Tournament at Chula Vista in the Wisconsin Dells.  It is the biggest pre-season tournament in Wisconsin for volleyball with 48 Varsity teams and 18 JV/Freshman teams.  Oshkosh West High School's volleyball team was there and rocked it!

My daughter is on the team and I went with so I decided to make the best of it and take my camera and make it my theme.  This was my first time going to a tournament and had no idea what to expect.  They had 16 fully sized courts with games going all the time.  We got there Friday morning and started playing right away.  There were 13 girls making up the team and they all played extremely well!  It was great to see these girls growing as individuals and a team every year.  I could tell they were "on" and was hoping they could make it last through the day.

They played 4 games the first day and won every one of them!  They were very happy and left the tournament that night feeling good.  Most families stayed in the same hotel or in the area so the girls got together to go shopping, swim in the pool and just have fun.  While I worked on editing the images I got from that day.

The morning of the second day, I was barely awake and just took in all the games going on and tried to focus on if there were any volleyballs coming at me!  I think just about everyone got a ball that was very close to hitting them!  Oh well, it made it interesting and kept you on your toes.

The team just kept on winning game after game.  It was unreal but very exciting too!  Finally it came down to the championship game.  This was it.  Could Oshkosh West JV volleyball team pull it off and win the whole enchilada?  It was a very exciting game and you could tell the girls were getting a little tired (on both teams).  But they were amazing and won both matches to win the championships!

Wow!  That was an awesome time and the girls should be proud of themselves for their accomplishments.  If this is any indication of the season to come for them, it will be a great one!  Good luck West JV volleyball team!

Week 6 - Auralai

Well, I'm finally getting caught up on everything from being on vacation.  Since I didn't have a lot of time or energy this week to focus on my theme, it ended up being very simple.  My husband and I wanted to go to Mile of Music in downtown Appleton, WI.  Mile of Music is, "We’re all about original, hand-crafted artistry, and we’re eager to serve up singer-songwriters, combos and multi-piece bands showcasing Americana music at its very best — from roots and indie rock to country, soul, r&b, jazz and folk."

We knew a few of the bands that were playing so we decided to see what it was all about.  Well, actually we only got to see one performer but that's ok because we love her music.  Auralai is made up of Stephanie Tschech and her cello named Cranky Agnes!  Yep that's right, it's just a girl and her cello but man can she play and sing.  Amazing!

We then ate some dinner at a Mexican place (we just walked in and never looked to see what the name of the restaurant was!) and our total bill was only $11.  Can you believe that???  I don't think I've ever eaten at a sit down restaurant, gotten two meals and drinks for that cheap!  We'll have to go back and find out the name too.

After dinner we wanted to see Wilfret & Miss, which is Stephanie from Auralai and Nicole Rae from The Traveling Suitcase.  But Nicole had tonsillitis so we saw Stephanie play again.  Which is just horrible because she is so good!  Actually the acoustics were much better so we enjoyed it a little more.

If you are looking for new music, check out Auralai and The Traveling Suitcase.  They both rock!  You will not be sorry.

Week 5 - Vacation

Hello!  I feel like I'm so behind on my project and blogging, well because I am behind.  I will hopefully catch up this week so watch out for two blog posts!

Week 4 was crazy busy because I was getting our house ready to rent out for a week, plus get ready for vacation.  So, week 5 we are on vacation and since I wasn't sure what I was going to have time for (photography wise), I decided to make the theme this week about our vacation.  I'm not sure if this is going to be boring or not for some but I think I did fairly well on the pictures.  I didn't bring my camera to everything so most of the shots are of us at my in-laws house in Deforest, WI.

We really didn't do very much this vacation, just did little things and stayed mainly with my in-laws and my parents in Rockford, IL.  It was kinda nice being with family for awhile and being able to just bum around the towns.

I'll just hit some of the events we did.  Atwood Fest happened to be going on while we were in Madison, WI and my brother in-law's band, Mojo Radio was playing along with Chicago's own Steepwater Band.  We had fun rockin' out to some of the best blues around!  We also went downtown to walk around, then to the terrace for the views and of course some Babcock ice cream.  Yum!

My husband plays guitar every morning and he brought his acoustic guitar with on vacation.  It was very nice to hear his music with the open views of my in-laws place.  This was very relaxing and I loved taking my book to the sun room to have his music be in the background.  I miss it already!

We brought our yellow lab, Abby with on vacation and my in-laws have a yellow lab named Sassy.  They had fun playing with each other (or I mean Abby had fun chasing Sassy!) and being with the family.

There's a lot more I could write about our vacation but I won't bore you and plus I'm tired!  Here's some photos for you!
